Introducing Europe Express: your daily guide to what matters in Europe

It’s a crucial time for Europe. With the continent preparing for slow entry into a post-pandemic market, and elections on the near horizon, it’s now more important than ever to stay informed on the topics that will shape Europe’s future.

That’s why the FT have decided to expand on our Brussels Briefing newsletter, now relaunched as Europe Express. The daily newsletter will broaden coverage from the Brussels team, and deliver insight and analysis from the FT’s specialist network of correspondents in Paris, Berlin, Rome, Athens and other capitals.

Headed up by editor Valentina Pop, the newsletter will provide business leaders, policy makers and investors with reports on the most consequential topics in European politics and policy.

What can readers expect?

Europe Express makes use of the Financial Times' extensive European correspondent network to bring agenda setting insight directly to your inbox.

You’ll read the stories and developments before they reach the front page headlines, ensuring you’re always ahead of the curve. With a focus on the day’s two to three top stories, the newsletter will cover European politics, economics, trade policy and regulation, as well as taking a look at areas that are of vital interest to FT audiences around the world; from the pan-European business to trade relations with the US, China and the UK.

"Europe's influence on global affairs and its leadership role on issues like climate, technology and the future of the digital economy mean it is of crucial interest to the FT's audience. This new offering will give our readers the daily insight they need on the key developments across the continent.”

Who will be contributing?

The newsletter will be edited by Valentina Pop, who has just recently joined the FT in this role after working at the Washington Post as a Brussels correspondent, reporting on regulation and politics. Having covered European affairs for more than 10 years, the polyglot and self-confessed ‘EU geek’ will now work with the FT’s specialist correspondents to ensure that readers are quickly brought up to speed on what is driving the European agenda.

The newsletter will collate expert analysis and news, and highlight important topics including, Javier Espinoza reporting on digital policy changes from within Brussels, Donato Paolo Mancini covering the coronavirus pandemic from Rome and Ayla Jean Yackley reporting on political news from Turkey. Each Thursday, the newsletter will profile a person the FT believes readers should keep an eye out for.
