New ways to find and share articles in the FT Microsoft Teams app

The tech-enabled rise of remote and flexible working practices has transformed how colleagues communicate and collaborate with each other. Whether a team workshop or just an informal chat with a coffee, many of these interactions now take place over platforms such as Microsoft Teams.

Financial Times journalism has long been a source of professional talking points, because of its reliability and global coverage. FT Professional identified that the shift to remote working and the use of new collaboration tools provided exciting opportunities to help subscribers get more value from the FT by better integrating timely, relevant articles into their daily workflow.

Our first iteration of the FT app for Microsoft Teams focused on making subscribers’ FT.com topic preferences visible within Teams, enabling greater discoverability of articles related to an individual's main areas of interest. We’ve now introduced new features to help Teams users also see the day’s biggest news stories according to the FT, as well as facilitating how articles are shared across the platform.

Not yet using the FT app for Teams? Here’s how to download it

The FT app is free to download from the Microsoft Teams store, and once you log in with your existing FT.com details, you’ll see any topics you already follow appearing in the MyFT Digest tab.

Some organisations restrict or block 3rd party app downloads in their instance of Microsoft Teams, which may prevent you from using the FT app. If you want to download the app but experience any issues, it may be worth first reaching out to one of your Teams administrators to clarify your organisation’s policy.

Equally, the FT customer success team are experienced in working with IT contacts to help install and roll out the app at an organisation level. Do feel free to contact the team, who can offer advice and help your admins through the app’s installation process step-by-step.
